Consider Isla Columpios, a natural wonder in Yucatan that exists only because a hurricane shattered the region’s development plans in 1988.
Throughout the 1980s, the people of Chuburná Puerto made their living from salt mining. However, the Creator, through the force of one of the strongest hurricanes in history, changed the course of their story by breaking the barrier that separated the sea from the salt flats.
The result wasn’t ruin, but a unique natural marvel where nature and humanity now coexist. Fishing and tourism thrive, empowering locals with a more profitable business and offering a paradise for all to enjoy—created by one of God’s many plans that will always be superior to ours.
